My Story

Carlos (we affectionately call him Carlitos, “little Carlos”) is the oldest child of single mother, Iris. His younger sister Valeria also attends CDL with him every day. Carlos is a very friendly little boy. He is outgoing, kind, smart and love public speaking. We often joke that Carlos will be a Pastor one day! You can often find Carlitos out on the soccer field or practicing his English with any visitors that come and visit CDL! Carlos and Valeria's Mom Iris came to Casa de Luz asking for help in the fall of 2015 after she separated from her husband. Iris told us that her dream has been to "move forward, and work hard, so that my children can have the future that they deserve and where we don't depend on anyone." Since being a part of the CDL family, Iris finished her high school education and dreams of going to university one day. She continues to work hard at a local gas station to provide for her family. We are so thankful that God has given us the opportunity to partner with this family, and we are excited to see all that God is going to do in and through them. We believe that God has wonderful things in store for Carlitos!
