My Story

Marlene, her older sister Eimy, and their single mother, Esmeralda arrived in Primo Tapia from a very difficult journey. They are from a state in the south of Mexico and had nowhere to live after Marlene’s father kicked the girls and their mom out of the family's home as he decided to start a new relationship. With nowhere to go, they first went to Marlene’s grandmother’s home, but her life was filled with drugs and instability. From there they came to Primo Tapia where Marlene’s very loving great-grandparents live. They were so thankful to have Marlene, her sister and mother with them, offering them a room to stay in and it became their safe place. But because of their age, they could only offer the little they had, and that’s when Esmeralda came to CDL asking for help. We are so thankful to journey with this family as they finally have the stability they need. Marlene is a very sociable and talkative little girl who makes friends easily. She loves coming to CDL and has adapted very well. We pray that God would continue to surround her with His love and fill her heart with His joy.
