My Story

Estefanie is the oldest of 3 siblings of single mother Maribel. She attends CDL’s Youth Mentorship Program, and her younger brother Mario and sister Sophie attend the Children’s Center. Estefanie is a very intelligent, kind young lady who loves spending time with her friends. Estefanie’s Mom Maribel came to Casa de Luz desperately asking for help after she arrived in Primo Tapia in 2016. She had found a job as a dishwasher at a local restaurant and had no one to care for her children while she worked. When we interviewed Maribel, prayed with her, and gave her the news that her children would be accepted into Casa de Luz, she cried tears of joy and thankfulness!  Since that time, Maribel has become the manager of one of CDL’s small businesses, K47 Café. Maribel has found such a sense of stability since becoming a part of the CDL family and God has really healed and transformed her. We are so thankful that God has given us the opportunity to partner with this family, and we are excited to see all that God is doing in and through them. Maribel wants you to know, “I am so thankful for the support of Casa de Luz. You have given me so much peace in knowing that my children are being cared for by you, angels that God has brought into my path” She also asks that you continue to pray for her and for her children.
