My Story

Mario is one of 3 siblings of single mother Maribel. His younger sister Sofia attends CDL’s Children’s Center with him and his older sister Estefanie is a part of our Youth Program. They have been a part of the CDL family since 2016. Mario is such a friendly, sweet handsome little man. His smile is absolutely contagious!! He is always very sharply dressed with a huge smile across his face.   

Mario’s Mom Maribel came to Casa de Luz desperately asking for help after she arrived in Primo Tapia in 2016.  She had found a job as a dishwasher at a local restaurant and had no one to care for her children while she worked. When we interviewed Maribel, prayed with her, and gave her the news that her children would be accepted into Casa de Luz, she cried tears of joy and thankfulness!  Maribel has found such a sense of stability since becoming a part of the CDL family and God has really healed and transformed her. In the spring of 2021, Maribel became the manager of one of CDL’s new small businesses, K47 Café. 

We are so thankful that God has given us the opportunity to partner with this family, and we are excited to see all that God is going to do in and through them.  Maribel wants you to know, “I am so thankful the support of Casa de Luz. You have given me so much peace in knowing that my children are being cared for by you, angels that God has brought into my path” She also asks that you continue to pray for her and for her children.
