It is with urgency and a heavy heart that I am writing to you today because as many countries around the world remove COVID-19 restrictions, poorer countries are still wrestling with its effects. The reality of this situation hit close to home for many of us in the Casa de Luz Family when I received the following email from one of our Mexican board members in Primo Tapia:
Hola Gary,
I’m sending this email on behalf of Pastores Daniel and Aleyda Aguiñaga.
Their daughter Damaris was hospitalized with COVID. She has severe lung infection and inflammation. She has been sedated and put on a ventilator.
The next 3 days are critical. We are praying to God for a miracle and for Damaris body to react to the medication.
Here in Mexico, we only have the one public hospital which her parents did not want to take her to because of the care and previous experiences with relatives that died there.
There is a Private Hospital in Tijuana that admits COVID patients but only with a very large deposit that will cover what they foresee it will cost for her care. That initial deposit the family and friends raised will be gone by this Saturday. We need to give the hospital another significant deposit to continue the care and hope that Damaris’ health improves enough so she can be transferred to another hospital for follow-up as she recovers.
The money necessary is simply unattainable for friends and family in Mexico.
We ask with all our heart to friends and family of Casa de Luz to give whatever amount that they can so we can continue hospital care for Damaris.
God has always shown us His love and grace through everything he does for us.
THANK YOU ALWAYS AND BLESSINGS,
Francisco
For those of you who may not know her, Damaris is the daughter of Pastors Daniel and Aleyda Aguiñaga from La Hermosa Church in Primo Tapia. La Hermosa has been our church partner from the very beginning of Casa de Luz. They are the visionaries and on the ground hands for the work being done in Mexico. Casa de Luz would not exist without them.
As you can see by the letter above, the medical system in Mexico is complicated and expensive. Plus, it requires up-front payment for any services that may be required. The Aguiñaga family has already raised the initial deposit through the help of local family and friends. But by Saturday, they need another deposit for her to remain in the hospital and continue the care that is keeping her alive. Locally, they simply don’t have the means to raise more.
Would you please consider making a donation towards these hospital bills to support our Mexican family at Casa de Luz.
Thank you in advance for your love and care and for joining with us in prayer for Damaris.
