Erik is one of five children to single Mom, Ruby. Erik and his brothers Edgar and Eduardo, and his sister Estrella all attend CDL together. He also has an older teenage brother. Erik is a very playful, outgoing and fun little boy. Being the youngest of five children, Erik has grown up playing with his older brothers and sister and now loves having so many CDL kids to play with as well. After separating from her husband, Erik’s mom Ruby entered a deep depression and found it very difficult to move forward with her life. She struggled daily to provide for her children. Often her and the children would sit together and cry because they had no food and were hungry. Since arriving at Casa de Luz, she and her family have finally found the stability that they were looking for. Ruby is a very hardworking woman and is a talented seamstress. When her children started attending CDL she was able to dedicate her full attention to her work during the day while they were cared for. In 2015, Ruby partnered with Casa de Luz and became our seamstress for House of Light Goods (HOLG). With her income from HOLG, she has been able to invest financially into a piece of land where she hopes to one day live with her family.
