My Story

Mia has been a part of Casa de Luz since the Winter of 2023. She began attending La Ola, CDL’s Youth Mentorship Program, after hearing about it from a member of La Hermosa Church.  

Mia has lived with her grandparents since she was 8 years old. Sadly, her grandfather recently passed away which left Mia home alone after school. Her grandmother didn’t want this for her as she knew it was not safe. This is when she came to Casa de Luz, so she could have a healthy and vibrant community to be a part of.  

Since joining the Youth Mentorship Program, Mia has changed a lot. We are seeing joy return to her life, and she has begun to use some of her amazing talents! Mia is doing really well in school, and she has found a love of writing. She has even been a part of writing contests at school! 

We are so thankful that Mia is a part of Casa de Luz, and we look forward to seeing all that God will do in and through her as she continues to heal.
