My Story

Saul is one of two children from single Mother Blanca. Saul and his younger brother Brayan have attended CDL since the summer of 2015. Saul is a very friendly, active little boy who loves playing lego and superheroes with the other CDL boys. Saul's Mom Blanca came to Casa de Luz asking for help in the summer of 2015, after she separated from her husband due to his physical abuse and neglect of his family. Blanca and her children had endured years of abuse at the hand of her husband, Blanca even suffers permanent hearing damage due to the abuse, and finally she decided to make a change for her and her children's well-being when her husband was offered a job out of town on a ranch. Since they have come to CDL, however, Blanca and her children have finally found the stability that they so desperately needed in their lives. Though their home is very simple and they don't have running water in the home, finally they have peace in their home. Blanca works at a local restaurant operated by another CDL Mom, Marilu, making tortillas. She works 6 days a week, 10 am - 8 pm and earns 1000 pesos per week (approximately $90 CDN per week). Blanca told us that she wants her sponsor family to know that "All I can do is thank you because you have accepted my children into CDL. I am so thankful that God has placed good and generous people in my path, like you.." Blanca has also be enrolled in our on-site Education Completion program, and is currently working towards finishing her elementary school education with us. We are so thankful that God has given us the opportunity to partner with this family, and we are excited to see all that God is going to do in and through them. Blanca asks that you would be praying for her, "that God would help me be the best Mom that I can and the best person that I can each day. Thank you.
