My Story

Emilia is the oldest child of single mom, Eva. Her younger brother attends CDL’s Children's Center while Emilia is at the Youth Program. Their mother moved them to Primo Tapia just two years ago after leaving a difficult situation with their father. We first met Emilia after there was a large fire in our town and she and her brother were home alone while their mom was at work. They navigated getting to safety on their own and our CDL staff met them at the shelter that was set up for families. We are so thankful to have met them that day, and that their house was spared in the fire. It has been a process for Emilia to adapt to the routine of being at CDL as she had always been left home alone. But we believe God had a special purpose in having us meet them that day and inviting them to be a part of CDL. We pray that God would continue to protect and bless Emilia and her family as they begin to heal from all they have lived.
